A Tarot Letter To My Younger Self
0This post idea came from Theresa Reed (The Tarot Lady) who wrote a letter to her younger self through the voice of tarot giving advice to her younger self (Link here). I thought I would give it a shot and see what I would tell myself when I was younger (teens).
I used the Gilded Royale and pulled three cards.
Dear Angelo,
Things at times may feel like a battle where there must be a winner, that winner is you. However there are no winners or losers. I know things are not always pleasant with what you are going through, but things get better. Not everyone is hostile and not everyone is out against you. (5 of Swords)
You have so much fire and passion inside yourself, a desire for adventure you will find it! Just watch out for your at times over-confidence and hot temperedness. (Knight of Wands)
Finally Angelo, you have so many dreams and ideas you become unable to make up your mind. Reframe from becoming idol and lazy and work towards making your dreams a reality. (7 of Cups)
PS: Don’t be afraid to let your freak flag fly!

Double Dipping Technique & Client Reading
2There is a great little tip/trick in tarot that can come in handy when you want to explore an issue through a different view point. It is using two (or more) decks in a spread. Pulling one card from each deck for each of the positions in a spread. Or using one deck for one side of the spread and another deck for another view on a second section of the spread. It is up to you, I don’t use this technique often but when the opportunity comes its way I will whip out another deck along with my Rider Waite to really spice things up.
Recently I had a client come to me with a few questions, one of the question had to do with their spiritual path. With my client’s permission I am going to share with you the question, reading and response. This will allow you to see my process, the technique in work and the response/feedback from the client. The client’s name has been changed to “Joe” for anonymity.
Their question was “Where am I going regarding my spirituality?”
————-
————-
The Reading
For this question I will be using two decks to explore this issue. I will be using the Osho Zen Tarot which is the deck I use for matters such as this in combination with a traditional Rider Waite Smith deck. There will be four positions in this spread, which was made custom for this question and you got some very interesting cards showing up here!
1- Where am I spiritually at the moment?
2- Where should I be heading, spiritually?
3- What lesson am I here to learn?
4- How will I achieve this?
1- Where am I spiritually at the moment?
Osho Zen – Success & Rider Waite Smith – The High Priestess
The card “success” depicts a image where a person rides a lion in great joy and victory. There is a parade. All is well and happy. The lesson in this card is about enjoying the high (the peak of life or any moment) but understanding that a low comes after it and that we should also welcome the low periods as well. We cannot live always in a intense level of energy all the time. We need to have the balance of the low to relax us. The High Priestess shows us that you are listening or trying to listen to your inner voice. Be it through meditation or trying to recall and understand your dreams. This card is a psychic card and deals with everything of the unconscious. Together these two cards paint an image where I feel that spiritually you are focusing on your inner self while at the same time it is difficult because you also have your attention on other things in life (the “success” card). But it is a good start you are trying to find your inner guide and trying to silence and still yourself which is a good start. I just feel you should try and put more effort into things that could help you get in touch more with yourself.
Client Response -
I found it to be quite accurate. I am in a place of listening to myself and trying to find a “niche” as it were. You are correct that I have allowed other parts of my life to supersede my spiritual growth.
2- Where should I be heading, spiritually?
Osho Zen – Understanding & Rider Waite Smith – The Tower
I just love this combination! Wow, ok so we have here “understanding” and The Tower which is basically saying that you need to shift the very fundamental and foundations of what you believe in and how you understanding spirituality and the path you live or want to live. The card “understanding” shows us doves flying free away from a cage or some jail which is actually illusionary. It signals a new beginning of understandings and freedom. Think of the jail or cage as your current situation or framework of understanding life, god, ect and the bird as your soul. It is leaving the cage, becoming free from the confinements its been stuck in for a long time. Likewise The Tower is resonating a similar theme, The Tower shakes us to our core, it rids us of false beliefs, or strongly held ideas which we built our lives on. The Tower says you will need to rid these tightly held beliefs and this process won’t be easy it will be hard and you will feel like everything is lost. When we question everything we thought to be true it can cause a panic and a period where everything feels like it’s falling a part but what good spiritual growth is not painful? Real spiritual growth is hard and painful and through this destruction of the old it leave room for new beliefs to be developed. Overall these two cards speak about new understanding and liberation/freedom from things which hinder you.
Client Response -
The funny thing about this is that I don’t think I have been holding onto religious beliefs but rather telling myself that what I want to believe is “tacky” and will be judged by others – in other words, I believe that what my heart truly desires is “wrong”. This is where the story starts… I practiced wicca more than ten years ago. I dabbled, wasn’t too serious about it. Since then I have studied every religion except for wicca again, but my heart never left it. I’ve just avoided it and tried to be a fantasy writer so I could tap into that side of what I always wanted.
3- What lesson am I here to learn?
Osho Zen – Laziness & Rider Waite Smith The Emperor
The card “laziness” implies that just when you think you made it, that you have arrived and nothing more can be done that now it is time to sit back and relax there is in fact more to be done! lol There is always more to be done, your never “finished” when it comes to the spiritual. When you become lazy and say to yourself you have no more energy to do anything you really do have it. The lesson you are to learn here is not to be complacent with life, always do more. The Emperor comes in really as the issue or problem that we see in the “laziness” card, The Emperor is not lazy but what these two cards have in common is a desire to create something that is fixed or unmovable. The Emperor is fixed in one place and has an established way of living and does not want to flex, bend or change. Change is something The Emperor does not welcome and much like in the “laziness” card it also does not want to change, because it thinks well, why change? I have arrived, all is well! Again with The Emperor a lesson to learn is that that nothing is permanent. If you look at both cards they are similar, both figures are siting on on a throne of their creation. Granted the “laziness” card is much more comical but they both say, your lesson is to not become fixed in on spot, do not get complacent and to do more.
Client Response -
Correct, I don’t want to change because it means I have to question my entire belief system around what I have created for myself. I have reached my throne. (or so I thought)… I did begin studying all religion very aggressively this last year; however, open to whatever may come but thinking more “academically” rather than “practicing”. As you say, I would have to challenge my entire way of living if I listened to my heart and followed what I believe to be my true spiritual path.
4- How will I achieve this?
‘Beyond Illusion” is a heavy duty card in this deck and really goes sums everything up for your reading. This card is about going beyond the illusions of the material world and coming into contact with consciousness. Do not look outside for truth and reality, you need to look inside for these. If you loom without, you become caught up in judgments, of what is right or wrong, good, bad and between wants and desires. This leads us right into “The Lovers” which is a card which represented desires, this card does represent sexual temptation and desire among other things like choices and decisions. However it is the desires and sexual nature of this card which I feel is really being expressed here because the “Beyond Illusions” card speaks about removing the outer world and its judgments, The Lovers when looked at it’s sexual/desire expression represents this outer world of desire and judgments quite perfectly. Another astonishing connection between these two cards is doubt. Traditionally, The Lovers also symbolized doubt (between choices) and Beyond Illusion says that doubt is a gift, it allows us to doubt the illusions of the material world. So to tie this in two card two, the tower and understanding…. Once you doubt what you believe in, then you will enter in the time of spirtual awakening and upheaval that leads to better understanding.
Client Response -
What will stick with me is “removing the outer world and it’s judgements” and yes “doubt”, “sexual desire” (also something I connect with spiritually and as I have ignored my spiritual growth my sexual life has been unrewarding because I don’t feel a spiritual connection with previous partners). You said “once you doubt what you believe in, then you will enter in the time of spiritual awakening and upheaval”. This is exactly it, I need to doubt my beliefs around pagans.
Client Overall Response
Since this reading I have decided to be open to my roots in paganism. I am a lover of the earth and in my heart I know I am a pagan. I can’t deny it any longer, during this; however, I also realized that paganism is not likely the only path for me so I am going to mix in pieces of other practices that truly call to me. I feel like it’s the dawning of a new spiritual chapter in my life. I am going to change the image of wiccan from “woo-woo” so that it can work in the business professionals life. I have set up an alter and ordered some books and supplies. I’m truly ready to honour myself… I will not be a stereotype but truly challenge the “image” of wicca/paganism.

As we have seen, the technique of adding a second deck to the reading was able to reveal additional information while at the same time both decks were reflecting each other in meanings and stitching together a fuller picture of what was going on.
Super Bowl 2012 Prediction Patriots Vs Giants
0Its that time of the year again, Super Bowl Sunday is tomorrow. This is one of those events that I use tarot to test its ability in predictions. I have been doing this since 2007 and have only been wrong once. This year it is the New England Patriots vs. New York Giants. We had the same match up back in 2008 to which I predicted the Giants would win and they did. Will we have the same thing happen this year? Lets see what Tarot has to say.
I shuffled the deck and asked who would win, pulling on card for each team.
Patriots – The Tower
Giants – King of Pentacles
The Tower in situations like this will indicate failure and ruin as it did when the Tower came up for the Cardinals when they went to the Superbowl against the Steelers. I see that Giants will win the 2012 Superbowl.
Homeowners Bill of Rights – Tarot Reading
0I heard President Obama on the tv today, only for a little. He was talking about mortgages and something called the “Homeowners Bill of Rights”, which would create simple mortgage disclosure forms, and protection for homeowners from inappropriate foreclosures. The new proposal would establish a quick refinancing plan open to people whose mortgages are owned by banks or held by investors in mortgage-backed securities.
Sounds good to me. What does tarot have to say about this bill of rights for homeowners? What impact will this have on the people of America? I shuffled my cards to find out.
I pulled three cards, Death 4 of Pentacles and Queen of Pentacles

Seeing Death here shows certain things will come to an end and be removed. This bill wants to simply forms and other things to help people when purchasing mortgages and help people in foreclosure right now. Death can indicate a end to bad practices by the banks. Overall, change will come as a result of this bill. I think the change impacts the people with the most financial control. The 4 of Pentacles can be see in two ways, either as the people with the control and influence over money (the Bankers) or the it can reflect the people of American at large. Death is changing the system of power and control from the Bankers and giving people more control over their finances. It will also help people save money. The Queen of Pentacles shows that this bill will be very resourceful for people as it gives them a way to solve problems. The Queen also indicates this bill is very gentle, that its purpose it simple and a no brainer. It’s only beneficial.
Iowa Caucus 2012- Prediction Outcome
0The Iowa Caucus, I don’t understand it but alas it is big stuff in the political world. Right now Three people are in the lead. Rick Santorum, Mitt Romney and Ron Paul. I love to use tarot to see outcomes, I do with for the Super Bowl and Presidential Elections, I was correct with Obama but then again everyone knew that one lol In this reading I did some special usage with the cards.
I pulled Three Kings out of the deck, each who would associate with one of the candidates. Each suit in the deck corresponds with an Element (Earth, Air, Water and Fire) and thankfully the candidates Zodiac sign elements do not overlap . Ron Paul is a Fire Sign so he is the King of Wands, Mitt Romney is a water sign so he is the King of Cups and Rick Santorum is a Earth sign so he is the King of Pentacles.
I then pulled The World card out as this will signify the “winner” and two cards that represent disappointment 8 of Cups and 5 of Cups. I shuffled these cards and spread them out. The winner will the the King who has the World card.
The World fell onto the King of Pentacles who is Rick Santorum, who looks to be the winner…… I really wanted Ron Paul :(
Update
- Results - Rick Santorum is indeed the winner after a confusion with the counting. At first they thought Romney won. But it is Rick Santorum, just as my cards predicted.

Kim Jong Il dead (69) – Tarot Reading for North Korea
0“Kim Jong Il, the diminutive North Korean dictator whose provocations and brinkmanship confounded three U.S. presidents and raised tension across northeast Asia, has died. He was 69.
Kim’s death was announced today by state television from the North Korean capital, Pyongyang, the Associated Press said.
Kim is believed to have suffered a stroke in 2008 but appeared relatively vigorous in photos and video from recent trips to China and Russia and in numerous trips around the country carefully documented by state media.
His death raises the specter of political chaos in a nuclear-armed hermit country. In September 2010, Kim Jong Il unveiled his third son, Kim Jong Un, as his successor, putting him in high-ranking posts. But it is unclear whether the Swiss-educated, Jong Un, 27, has the skills to stay in power or keep the fragile country from collapse.
- USA TODAY
This is big news on the international stage of politics and world events. So what better than for me to do a Tarot Reading! Lets explore how this will affect North Korea.
Question 1 – How will Kim Jong II death impact North Korea?
The Chariot poped out of the deck, this can indicate two possibilites. His death will allow North Korea to move in a new direction, make progress and direct a new goal. Thats a “Positive side”, the “negative side” can bring out The Chariots less than favorable qualities, that of war/combat and recklessness in general. They can go into two directions right now it all depends on who becomes the next leader and how they direct the country (like the charioteer in this card).
The main reading features the 4 of Swords, The High Priestess and Page of Pentacles
The High Priestess at the center, signals secrecy. North Korea is going to be very hush, hush on governmental issues and the such. This card is also about passivity so they may appear to take a step back and won’t appear that they are going to do anything harsh. This may then say that The Chariot is not directed in a negative way. The 4 of Swords usually signals “rest from streif”, this can mean that things may cool down with North Korea. Both the 4 of Swords and High Priestess indicate thinking and contemplation. To the right, the Page of Pentacles deals with goals, direction, learning, practicality and the like. This can be very good that through there contemplation they may be deciding important issues for the future growth and development of the country.
Question 2 – How will the world (other countries) react/respond to North Korea now?

The 3 of Swords shows sorrow and maybe sympathy. The other countries will expend there condolences. The 6 of Cups shows a peace offering/ offers of good will and help. Things from the past come up and wanting to bring North Korea to a “better time before all the crap”. The 9 of Pentacles, in the end though the international community is going to leave it up to North Korea to decide what they are going to do. They are to be independent and able to do it on their own.
More to come……
Winter Solstice Spread & Reading
1The winter solstice falls on December 22nd this year. The winter solstice is the longest night out of the year. Spiritually it represents the New Year. Even though We place the New Year on January 1st, the winter solstice marks the time when the Sun is “born” and day begins to get longer.
There are many points in the year in which I do tarot readings for myself to evaluate where I am, where I was and generally what’s going on. I do a reading on my birthday, the Summer Solstice and the Winter Solstice or New Year.
In this post I will be sharing with you a Winter Solstice spread that I shared on YouTube where I pulled cards for my reading. In this post I will be giving my interpretations to these cards.
The spread goes like this.
1) How do I feel overall about the past year?
2) Where were my challenges in the past year?
3) Where did my support come from in the past year?
4) How have I changed in the past year?
5) Where do I need to change?
6) What do I need to release?
7) What do I need to bring in?
8) What do I need to honor in myself?
How do I feel overall about the past year? – 6 of Wands. This card is about victories and the overall feeling about this past year is a feeling that I have come out on top, that I have achieved something and that I am victorious in some aspect. This is true. In the start of 2011 I felt that good energy was heading my way, many things positive happened for me tarot wise. Personally, I lost 55 pounds and that without a doubt is a victory. The 6 of Wands can also indicate support and praise from people around you, which is true. I had great support from my fellow readers and I have been cheered on in my endeavors. In the last part of the year I was laid off from work however I see that as a GOOD thing, my tarot business picked up right after being laid off and I have been able to focus on my book, blog and youtube much more.
Where were my challenges in the past year? – 4 of Cups. Oh how I laughed when this card came up, tarot has a good sense of humor for sure. This card relates to my challenges in this past year perfectly. I see this card is boredom, apathy and losing interest in things and I see it also as laziness. Laying around, wanting to do something but not having the drive to do it. This is the story of my life. I see this card influences me the most with my book. It often found it card to get myself to sit and write. I was overwhelmed by the energy of the 4 of Cups.
Where did my support come from in the past year? – The Wheel. This is an interesting card to see here. The Wheel represents cycles and the flux of ups and downs. As what supported me this can show that either I understand this idea of cycles more and that I understood that lows don’t last that sooner or later things move on up. As a force outside of me it represents that higher forces have been at working pushing me into a positive direction. Which is a great thing to see here.
How have I changed in the past year? - The Fool – The Fool is about newness and taking risk, jumping into new things, trying new things. This is something I did do, during the summer especially felt the energy of The Fool. I was more adventurous and really went with things as they came.
Where do I need to change? Justice - This card is about balance, fairness and about understanding cause and effect. Justice is about taking responsibility for our actions. I need to take more responsibility for my actions. I also need to change and become more balanced. As well as more rational.
What do I need to release? – Ace of Wands. This is odd and somewhat of a stumper. The Ace of Wands as what do I need to release? Perhaps instead of something I need to release as in “let go of”, I may need to release in another way. I may need to release as express what is being kept inside. If this is the case there is a whole bunch of fiery energy that this ace represents that needs to be let out of the bottle.
What do I need to bring in? – 10 of Swords. This seems odder than the Ace of Wands this card may seem counter-intuitive as something you should bring in right? Maybe not, this card can signal a need for me to let go of something, which has become a dead horse, which I keep beating. This card can signal a need to usher in a new cycle or thought and new ways of thinking to old problems.
What do I need to honor in myself? – 6 of Cups. Finally, the 6 of Cups for what to honor in myself directs me to look towards the past, my childhood, my upbringing perhaps making peace with it. Honoring my past and my experiences growing up. I don’t need to go into much detail but I look at my past with mixed emotions of regret, missed opportunities and a desire to change certain things. However this card being a card of the past and in the “honor in myself” it says I need to stop wanting to change what can’t be changed and honor that which made me who I am.
This reading was very accurate and resonated with me very much. I would love for all of you to try this reading and see what the cards have to say to you.
Have a Blessed Yule, a Merry (happy) Christmas and a great New Year.

Amy Winehouse Death – Quick Look with Tarot
1British singer Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London flat on Saturday July 23rd 2011. She was 27 years old. As of now, we know nothing about what caused this. So I am going to pull three cards to see what influences surrounded the event.
We have two court cards. King of Swords and Knight of Pentacles. This can mean there were two people connected to her death or significant in some form. As the investigation unfolds this will make more sense. The 8 of Cups reflects her personally, her feelings and main energy of her death. What I feel the 8 of Cups is representing here is isolation, drained of energy and burned out., lacking hope and letting go. It is an interesting card.
Amy is well known for her drug addictions. Cups can reflect addictions and drugs. Here the eight of cups shows being drained and lacking energy and hope. Amy at her time of death was most likely weak and tiered. This card is also about letting go and moving on. Which makes me feel that Amy some how, maybe subconsciously knew it was her time, or she wanted to “move on”. Which makes me feel that intentional death by drug overdose is a possibility. This is a sad card, and really represents her emotional state at the time. She might of been thinking about the deeper meaning to life, as the 8 of cups shows a need to understand the deeper understanding to life. She may have lost hope that there is more, or that their is a larger meaning to life or her life in specific.
RIP. Amy Winehouse.
UPDATE : It is being reported that Amy died alone in her bed. This is a clear connection to the 8 of Cups (isolation, aloneness)

The Soul Spread
5The Soul Spread
I am in a very philosophical mood today and wanted to do this post for a while so the timing is perfect. In Platonic philosophy there are three parts of the soul, which are
1) The Logos (The Rational)
2) The Thymos (The Spirited)
3) The Eros (The Appetitive)
Logos (λόγος), represents our mind and reasoning (intellect, thinking). This part of the soul seeks truth and knowledge and a desire to learn.
Thymos (θυμός), represents our emotion, spiritedness and the masculine aspect. It is the part of the soul that you find temper and anger. This part of the soul seeks power, honor and fame. It is our ambitious aspect.
Eros (έρως), represents desire, our physical needs (appetitive) and is the feminine aspect. This part of the soul seeks to satisfy its present needs. Instant gratification, it is the most primitive and animalistic part of the soul.
To understand what your soul is feeling and advice it has to give you regarding a particular situation you can pull one card for each of these aspect of the soul.
1) Logos – The rational thing, the truth of the matter, what can be learned?
2) Thymos – The motivation behind everything, what you seek to gain?
3) Eros – The self-gratification aspect, what you desire right now, the thing that should be controlled/limited.
How can we use this spread? Let’s try an example.
The main thing on my mind is my current issue regarding my job. I want to leave and go to another department. So let’s see what my soul has to say about it.
Logos – 3 of Swords ~~ Thymos – Justice ~~ Eros – 8 of Wands
In the Logos, the 3 of Swords shows that logic is clouded and is being overcome by emotion. In this issue logic and emotion are intertwined. The 3 of Swords indicates a need to make a hard decision.
In the Thymos, Justice shows that my motivations are just and with reason. Justice may symbolize the need for correction and fixing. What I see to gain is fairness and equality, which I feel has been lacking in my present environment.
In The Eros is the 8 of Wands which shows that what I desire right now is a fast escape. The 8 of Wands is swift and fast. I want something, anything to be done right now just to get me out of where I am. The 8 of Wands shows also a desire for conclusion and having things come to an end. The Eros aspect needs the most limiting and control, so to balance this out I need more patience.
This spread has been a success! Try and see how it work for you.
